Frequently Asked Questions

What if I don’t have a mold?

You don’t have to have a mold to make these. I’ll be honest, this is my first time ever using a mold. If you don’t have one, not to worry just dip the cookie into the white chocolate with a fork, cover completely and set on parchment paper to dry.

Do I have to add coconut oil to the almond bark?

No, you do not have to add coconut oil, it’s totally optional. In my opinion it does give it a smoother texture, making the consistency easier to work with than without it.

Can I use food coloring if I don’t have red candy melts:

Yes, but it has to be an oil-based food coloring or it will seize up your chocolate. I want to be honest here, I have always used colored candy melts. I am just now starting to experiment with oil-based food coloring. Once I find a brand that I know works, I will be sure to share it with you. As of right now, I can’t give you any recommendations as far as which ones work.

Can you add other types of oil?

Yes, but be sure it’s not an oil that will leave a lingering flavor.

Do you have to use a melting pot to melt the chocolate?

No, but I personally love mine. It’s great for helping me keep my chocolate melted while I get my together together lol. I have been using my Wilton candy melt pot for YEARS and it’s still going strong, if you do a lot with candy melts or almond bark I highly suggest getting one.
