Olympic Winter Games? What Moment Gave You Tears Of Joy?

WOW, can you belie it? The 2014 Winter Olympics have come and gone. It seems like just yesterday I was attending Puffs Twitter Party kicking off the 2014 Winter Olympics!

American ice dancers Meryl Davis and Charlie White bring home their first ever gold metal. The two have been skating together since they were in 4^th grade. Watching the two of them skate is amazing. The incredible “U” lift is amazing. The two of them not only dance amazing together on the ice, they feel the music, work hard, and put their heart and soul into their performance, and it shows.

I cannot believe another Olympics has come and gone, it seems like just yesterday I was watching Meryl Davis and Charlie White’s 1^st ice dancing performance with my girls. Now the 2014 Olympics has come to an end, and the ice dancing duo is bringing home the GOLD!

It still amazes me they have been skating side-by-side longer than another other ice skating duo. It’s no wonder they performed flawlessly, they have been working hard together for 17 years, and it all paid off. The two of them grew up in Michigan, and the story of how they ended up together is great! Meryl learned to skate at the early age of five, and Charlie had been on the ice since he was three years old. I wonder if their parents every thought they would be watching them perform at the Winter Olympics, much less bringing home the GOLD! They must be so proud, and need a case of Puffs.

My kids are my world, and being able to pick up the phone and call them whenever I need to is important to me. My husband and I have been talking about getting our oldest daughter her own smartphone. She had one about a year ago, but got into trouble, and we took it away. She has worked hard, and we think she is ready for another one. Plus, she is starting to be more active in after-school activities, going to friends, and babysitting on the weekend, and I want her to be able to reach me when she needs to. I don’t know if her not having a phone has been harder on me or her.

At least if she has a phone, I can get in touch with her, and she can call me if she needs to. Did you know that brushing alone misses about 75% of your mouth? I am going to admit, I didn’t, and I feel like I am always fighting with one of my kids about brushing, swishing, or flossing. My oldest daughter tries to tell me that she only needs to brush her teeth in the morning, becasue nobody will smell her breath while she is sleeping. Let’s just say, this house is CRAZY, I cannot belive my husband and I are going to be adding another one of these crazy kids to the bunch, and I am always fighting with someone about brushing, rinsing, or flossing.

Was your New Year’s resolution to lose weight? Are you looking for ways to stay motivated to lose weight? I know we are only a month into the New Year, You may have committed to losing weight and are already finding yourself wondering how in the world you will stay motivated to lose weight. Weight loss is a journey; it doesn’t happen overnight, and trust me, I wish it did. Sure, there is plenty of fad diets, but in the end, they don’t work and are not healthy. The last thing you want to do is damage your body, We only have one and we should take care of it.

Most of you already know I started my journey to weight loss before the holidays. I know it’s a bad time to start. I didn’t lose much weight, but I didn’t gain any either. I knew if I didn’t start, then I would probably have a bad attitude during the holidays and possibly gain more. I know myself, and I planned for the holiday’s. Anyway, I have found myself looking for ways to stay motivated, so I thought I would share what I do to help me keep my motivation to lose weight.

Five Tips To Keep You Motivated To Lose Weight

Write It Down: If you are already on the road to losing weight, you should have a goal in place. If you have not already written it down, do it! As soon as you write it down, it’s a commitment. Remember to be realistic about your goals. In order to keep the weight off, you are going to need to do things the right way. Spend some time, do some research, and be realistic. Remember, if you are planning on keeping it up, you will need to take things slow, A couple of pounds a week is realistic.

Support: I wish I had a workout partner, but I don’t so I have had to get creative. Rather than having a workout partner, I have my kids, who I promise to go on walks with, take to the park, play Just Dance on the Wii, and do loads of other things with. If playing Just Dance for an hour or two with my girls isn’t a workout, I am not sure what is. They wear me out, and they do it on purpose too. Oh, and if you couldn’t tell, I love motivational quotes. They are a great way to find that little extra bit of motivation you need to make it through a week.

Sleep: I have struggled with this one and am finally getting into the swing of things. Sleep is so important if you want to stay motivated to lose weight. I wasn’t losing weight; I was doing everything I was supposed to when it came to eating and working out. My problem? I wasn’t sleeping. Since I started sleeping, I have had more energy, been in a better mood, found it easier to stay motivated, and, you guessed it, lost weight.

Technology: I am a huge fan of technology! There are several great devices out there to help you stay motivated. I use several apps on my phone and recently started using a Jawbone, which is amazing. My husband has been using a device similar to the Jawbone for a few months and done great with it, which is what made me want to try the Jawbone. There is all kinds of good info on Dollar General’s Holiday Page. I made myself the French Vanilla Mocha without any whipped cream. Can you say amazing, and easy. It’s super easy, there is only hot water, NESTLE COFFEE-MATE Liquid Coffee Creamer, NESCAFE TASTER’S CHOICE House Blend, Chocolate Flavor Syrup, and if you want you can toss some whipped cream on top.

I personally love French Vanilla coffee that’s sweet, and the recipe from Dollar General is yummy!

My partner and I used our Keurig brewing system like it was going out of style! Sure, I drink coffee too, but he’s the all-time coffee drinker. It still amazes me that he can drink a cup of coffee at 11pm and go to bed right after. Anyway, we love our Keurig; it’s been good to us, and I love trying new products to go with my Keurig, especially ones like the hot drinks from Caza Trail and Grove Square. This time of year we always drink hot chocolate, and now all we have to do is pop that bad boy in the Keurig, and bam, we have a cup of piping hot chocolate! Personally, I like the milk chocolate flavor, which worked out perfect because the kids liked them all. Be Ready For Unexpected Guests This Holiday Season!

The holidays tend to bring unexpected guests, which often lead to an unexpected get-togethers. I think it’s safe to say that we have unexpected guests at least once a week during the holiday season. My husband was bord and raised where we live, between old friends popping in, and family stopping by to see the kids we always have people in our home. Which is great, but it can get stressful if I’m not prepared.

I used to freak out, get upset because people didn’t call, and it often lead to an unneeded argument with my husband, over something he couldn’t control. Rather than continue to be stressed, and argue with my husband I learned to keep some essentials in my home during the holidays, and to be honest the rest of the year.

We have four children, so ordering pizza, or running to the store out of the blue to entertain guests is out of the question. To be honest we cannot afford it, especially weekly. Good and Delish Easy Holiday Appitizers From Walgreens Holiday Gift Guide

We recently had some company, so I decided it was the perfect time to pull out all the Good and Delish items we had. I have learned to buy enough for our family, plus a little extra. We have 6 people in our household alone. I pulled out several great appetizers.

Good & Delish Frozen Cheese Pizza is a great holiday appetizer! It’s easy to make, and if you play your cards right it can feed a whole lot of people! I always have a Good & Delish Frozen Cheese Pizza in my freezer! They’re my husbands favorite frozen pizza, and have always been a huge hit with family and friends. When we have company I will cut the pizza into little squares so it’s more like a small finger food, or appetizer. It makes the pizza last longer, becasue people are more willing to grab a few different finger foods, unless they’re my son and husband. Then all they want is the cheese pizza from Good and Delish.

I thought Tortilla Chips and Spinach & Artichoke Cheese Dip would be an easy holiday appetizer for the adults. My kids don’t normally eat things like Spinach & Artichoke Cheese Dip, but I was wrong. The kids polished it off before the adults could get any.

I wanted to try the Good & Delish Frozen Spanakopita, and the Bacon Wrapped Filet Mignon Bites were amazing. They were both great! The To be honest I had the Good & Delish Frozen Hot Dog Puffs for those days when I need a fast and easy lunch for the kids, they are a super easy lunch that the kids love . I almost forgot about the Good and Delish Raspberry Sticks and Good & Delish Delight Candy Milk Chocolate Carmel for an easy sweet treat! This was the first time I had tried either one, and WOW they both are amazing. Needless to say, there wasn’t any left after everyone was gone.

I was happy that we had all these great Good and Delish items on hand, because it never fails when children are involved nobody ever likes the same thing. Two of the little boys wouldn’t eat cheese pizza, but they loved the Frozen Hot Dog Puffs.

Everyone enjoys Good and Delish products, and I love that I can get everything I need to entertain expected or unexpected guest from Walgreens and save money with their Balance Rewards Card!

While I was browsing the Walgreens Holiday Gift Guide for easy holiday appetizers, I realized how much my Balance Rewards Card was going to save me. I not only racked up some major points, but I also received a $10 coupon at the register. 8 Tips To Become More Eco-Friendly

Are you jumping in and doing your part to be green and eco-friendly? My family has been working hard on becoming greener. From coming up with creative ideas to reuse items rather than tossing them, unplugging lights and other electronics around the house, buying recycled products, recycling more as a family, and even cleaning greener too,. Going green is important; it means spending a little extra each day on something that will benefit the wonderful world we live in and that we will leave behind for our kids. If you have been considering going green but don’t know where to start, let me share a few tips and tell you how we first started to go green.

Ways To Go Green and Live Eco-Friendly

Add Recycling Bins To Your Home and Place of Work

If you want to go green and become a more eco-friendly household, recycling is a great place to start. Once you have your recycling bins up and get used to which product goes into which bin, it’s easy, and you are helping make a difference.

Carpool

If you travel any distance to work, consider carpooling with a few people who live in the same direction. It’s not only eco-friendly to travel with others; I have found chatting with co-workers on the way to work can be a great way to start the day.

Walk, Don’t Drive

If it’s close enough to walk, do it! Don’t start up that car; rather, put on some comfy shoes, get some exercise, and smile because you are beginning to lead a more eco-friendly life. Plus, think of all the benefits of walking… Maybe it’s time to start that new diet?

Unplug or turn it off.

If you are not using it, unplug! Turn off lights and electronics that are not being used.

Laundry

Rather than using hot water when washing laundry, use cold water. Of course, there are loads that require hot water, but be careful and don’t wash anything in warm or hot water that doesn’t need it.

Turn off that AC

Turn that AC off on cool days and nights, open up some windows and enjoy the fresh air rather that blasting the AC. My husband and I find it relaxing to lay in bed with the cool outside breeze blowing in the window, and its green.

Get Creative and Reuse Rather Than tossing Out

Rather than tossing things out, try to reuse them. Let the kids turn something old into something new, jump online and look for creative ways to reuse.

Eco-Friendly Cleaning Products

Yes, you can clean green too with products like Clorox’s eco-friendly Natural All-Purpose Cleaner. In my opinion, purchasing eco-friendly cleaning products has been one of the easiest ways to become a more eco-friendly family. Plus, I am not stressed because the products I am using are filled with nasty toxins that I don’t want to be around, much less have my kids around. Rather than using those old products that are filled with who knows what anymore, think green. CALM down… I thought the same thing. What about my precious Clorox? I have to admit I hated the old smell, but it is the one product that I know is going to do its job. Plus, there is nothing like a Clorox-clean home. You walk in, and you can smell the clean air. Don’t you worry, Clorox Green Words will keep your home nice and clean too!

Yes, if you did not know, Clorox has gone green too. We have been using Clorox’s eco-friendly products for several months; they work great and, in my opinion, smell better. While I have tried several of Clorox’s eco-friendly cleaning products, I have one that I never go without; it does too much around my house to go without: Green Works Natural All-Purpose Cleaner.
