I love making fun festive holiday treats, these do not disappoint in the fun factor or the flavor factor. I am honestly not a huge fan of almond bark, unless it’s paired with certain things. One of these things is Oreo cookies, they pair up nicely.

Before we get started with the recipe, I did want to share a little tip I learned making these Easy Mummy Halloween Chocolate Covered Oreos. I always add coconut oil to my almond bark, it makes it easier the almond bark a little easier work with. Well, when making the zig zag pattern for the mummy, if you have to melt or add additional almond bark skip the coconut oil.. It’s not a huge deal but it does help the almond bark hold it’s shape a little better when piping the zig zag pattern on the Easy Mummy Halloween Chocolate Covered Oreos, but it will still work with the coconut oil.

Cover the Oreo: Place an Oreo cookie on top of the coated bottom, then cover the cookie completely with almond bark.

Allow to dry: Allow to dry completely before removing from the mold.

Remove from the mold: Remove the cookies from the mold and set them on parchment paper.

Prepare your piping bag: Next put some almond bark into a piping bag and cut a hole in the bottom of the bag. I made a small hole you can adjust the size of the hole to the size you want the bandages to appear. TIP: If you melt more almond bark for this not adding coconut oil can be beneficial here. It just makes the bark a little less runny, it’s still totally doable with the coconut oil so if you have some left that’s fine, but if you need to melt more or add you are totally okay to skip adding the coconut oil this time around.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I don’t have a mold?

No mold, no worries. These Mummy Oreo’s and my Blood Splattered Oreo’s are the very first ever chocolate covered Oreos I have made using the mold. If you don’t have one, no worries simply dip dip the cookie into the white chocolate with a fork, cover completely and set on parchment paper to dry.

Do I have to add coconut oil to the almond bark?

No, you do not have to add coconut oil, it’s totally optional. In my opinion it does give it a smoother texture, making the consistency easier to work with than without it.

Why do you suggest not to add extra coconut oil when piping the almond bark onto the cookies?

Coconut oil gives the almond bark a smoother texture, which is great for covering the cookies and things of that nature and it’s totally okay to pipe it onto the cookie with the coconut oil. I have just found that it holds it’s shape slightly better for the small details like making the zig zag pattern to show the mummy bandages.

Can you add other types of oil?

Yes, just be sure it’s not an oil that will leave behind a lingering taste.

Do you have to use a melting pot to melt the chocolate?

No, but I don’t know what I would do without mine, lol. It’s great for helping me keep my chocolate melted while I get my together together lol. It’s been my trusted sidekick for many moons and my Wilton candy melt pot for YEARS and it’s still going strong, if you do a lot with candy melts or almond bark I highly suggest getting one.
